The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) recently launched EEOC Explore, a new interactive data query and mapping tool that gives users access to the most current, granular and privacy protected aggregate data covering employment trends that is publicly available.

Employer Information Report EEO-1 (EEO-1) data is collected by the EEOC from private employers with 100 or more employees and federal contractors with 50 or more employees. EEOC Explore allows users to analyze employment trends and search this aggregate data by sex, race, ethnicity, location and industry sector.

EEOC Explore visualizes aggregate data points in ways that are more intuitive and efficient than previous methods, and surpasses the previously available static tabular format available on its public website.

Development of EEOC Explore

Per the EEOC’s press release, it developed EEOC Explore in support of its mission to prevent and remedy unlawful employment discrimination. As part of this effort, the EEOC launched this tool to make it easier to navigate the agency’s aggregate EEO-1 data for anyone interested in advancing equal opportunity in the workplace. The tool was developed by the EEOC in collaboration with the University of Chicago.

Employers can access the tool on the EEOC’s website, where EEOC Explore is available for public use.
